Bringing Back The 90’s Styles

The 1990’s were a time of grungy styles, obnoxious colors, Lisa Frank, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and much more. Every girl wanted to be one of the Spice Girls, rock platform shoes and may or may not still own a beloved hair crimper. Well, channeling your inner 90’s style is something we at Valley want you to embrace, so below is a compilation of a few must-have items to make your 90’s style complete.

The tattoo choker necklace

Choker necklaces are great accessories mainly because they stay in place, go with almost any outfit and give you back that grungy style that may have been forgotten with the start of the new millennium. Layer other necklaces with the choker for extra flare to complete the look.

Multi-colored lipstick shades

Something that is always an attention-grabber is bright lipstick, but back in the 90’s lipstick colors like bright blue, purple, and sometimes even green were popularized. NYX recently came out with a collection of lipsticks that do just this—re-popularizing and bringing back the unusual colors that now more than ever are being embraced.

High-waisted pants and shorts

It’s no surprise that the high-waisted look is back in style because not only is it cute and easy, but it’s pretty comfortable, as well! Denim in particular is really trending right now, as well as spandex and floral patterns in high-waisted pants and shorts.

Denim jackets and vests

This is a style that seems to have stayed around since the 90’s ended, but it’s one worth mentioning and definitely encouraging! Being dubbed a “Denim Dana” should be something you embrace. Plus, the denim vests and jackets are great for layering, especially with your favorite flannels.

Obnoxious colors and patterns

There once was a time when a banana-patterned shirt, neon, leopard print harem pants or the camouflage look was seen as normal—we’re here to assure you that the time is happening again, now! This was first popularized by men’s apparel, but women are starting to express their wild sides with this eccentric style, as well.

Over the knee, thigh high socks

Whether you’re having flashbacks to elementary school, or you can’t help being reminded of “Clueless,” this look is one that we think anyone can pull off! Whether you wear tights and high socks with a dress to make it girly, or challenge the look and slap on a pair of shorts and heels, regardless of how risky you choose to be, this style is one that is flattering for any woman.

90’s inspired sunglasses

Sunnies are a great way for any girl to express herself. There is a lot to be said about someone who chooses to wear a pair of aviators or a girl who goes with the Wonka-style look. Sunglasses are an essential part of a woman’s wardrobe; Valley thinks you should try something different, go after the styles you might not have ever thought to own before and completely rock it.
