The Hallo-Wine 5K combines Wine, Puppies and Exercise

As orange, yellow and red leaves flutter to the ground, residents are reminded how beautiful autumn in Happy Valley truly is. While there are many ways to celebrate the season, nothing compares to getting outside, taking a scenic walk, and breathing in that crisp fall air. The only thing that could be better is turning your scenic walk into a run and getting your heart rate up while you take in the sights of October in Pennsylvania.

What’s better? Helping to benefit homeless cats and dogs in Centre County while you run. Running, helping animals AND getting rewarded with a glass of wine when you’re finished.

It seems too good to be true, but it all becomes reality on Oct. 30 for Mt. Nittany Winery’s Hallo-Wine 5K.

The Hallo-Wine 5K combines exercise, fundraising and wine for a morning full of gorgeous fall views and Halloween-themed fun. The 3.1 mile course winds through the vineyard and surrounding trails of Mt. Nittany Winery with three stops for wine tasting along the way. The stops are optional, but who can resist wine samplings including Tailgate Red, Bergwein, and Spiced Apple.

After you have completed the race, reward yourself with a glass of wine included in the registration fee of $45. Also included with registration is a long-sleeve t-shirt, wine glass, goody bag and most importantly a donation to Centre Country PAWS.

Prizes are being awarded to top male and female finisher as well as Halloween costume prizes for Best Movie Character, Best Superhero, Scariest/Creepiest and Most Original. Valley thinks this is a great opportunity to wear your Halloweekend costume!

The race is open to those 21 and over, so don’t forget to bring your ID. Day-of registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 and the race begins promptly at 10 a.m.

Mt. Nittany Winery is a family-owned property in Centre Hall, so carpool if possible.
