Starbuck’s Violet Roasted Sweet Potato Latte

Aside from their cold brews and espresso shots, Starbucks is known for creating unique, iconic and sometimes irresistibly Instagramable drinks.

In the past, they’ve turned out creations such as the “Unicorn Frappuccino,” a multicolored sweet and sour blended drink topped with whipped cream and pink and blue powder; the “Crystal Ball,” a peach infused blended drink topped with peach whipped cream and candy crystals; and even the “Zombie Frappuccino,” a caramel apple flavored blended drink topped with a pink whipped cream ‘brain.’

This fall 2018, Starbucks may have created another chilly weather classic, with their new latte drink made with purple sweet potatoes. Yes, you read that correctly. South Korea’s Starbucks released a sweet potato latte. For now the latte isn’t available to order in the U.S., but in Korea it can be whipped up either hot or cold and then topped with whipped cream and a bright purple sweet potato dust.

Although, the Pumpkin Spice Latte seems to take credit as the most popular seasonal beverage each fall, the Violet Roasted Sweet Potato Latte may give our beloved PSL a run for its money. The violet hue that the purple sweet potato gives off, adds a cozy Fall vibe to the brand new beverage and would be perfect for your next Instagram post.

But without hopping on the next flight to Korea or hoping that this latte will make its way to the United States soon, your Instagram will sadly remain latte-less. In the meantime, while you patiently wait for the Violet Roasted Sweet Potato Latte to arrive at HUB Starbucks (or while you patiently wait to board your flight), here is a DIY recipe for the sweet potato latte to try out right at home.
