A Netflix Show Pick-Me-Up

With all of the new crime and drama series accumulating on Netflix, it can be hard to find shows whose main purpose is to bring joy to the viewer. VALLEY searched for the best happy-go-lucky, uplifting shows on Netflix for when you want to have a good laugh, or just simply want to have something playing in the background. Next time school or work gets you down, try flipping through some of these Netflix series for an instant smile across your face.

Gilmore Girls

We can all agree that “Gilmore Girls” is a classic early 2000s show – the fashion choices alone are enough to bring a smile to your face. The show revolves around a young mother and daughter duo who live in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Their small and connected town goes through ups and downs but always ends up finding the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though there are seven seasons of the show, don’t worry if you finish it all in one week – Netflix came out with a “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” series to keep you going even after seven seasons of pure joy.

Carrie Diaries

With only two seasons, this show is a great binge for those who just want a quick pick-me-up. “Carrie Diaries” is the prequel to “Sex in the City,” which follow Carrie Bradshaw around as she finds her way into the fashion industry. The show is witty, trendy and above all light-hearted. The show also features Austin Butler as one of the main characters, so you really can’t miss out with this show.

The Great British Baking Show

The only downside to this series is that it will make you extremely hungry – you have been warned! The show is not just your average baking competition; it also has many other sub-series, such as “The Great British Baking Show: Master Class” and “The Great British Baking Show: Holiday Edition.” If you’re in the mood for food, this show might be the one to keep on in the background while you study.

Fuller House

Looking to revive your childhood? Fuller House is only one Netflix binge away. This show will make you say “have mercy,” every time you see a classic character from the original series “Full House.” The series is constantly serving smiles, with John Stamos, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin all making a comeback.

One Day At A Time

This feel-good sitcom is perfect for those looking to de-stress. The show features a newly single mother trying to raise two kids. The show makes us remember that family is the most important thing in our lives – no matter how much drama they can cause.
