A Dash of Healthy: Spring Into Smoothies!

This week, we’re going for some lighter fare. Why? Because the sun is finally out and spring is in the air! We love seasonal eating, and spring and summer are seasons with plenty of fruits and veggies to blend into a delicious, healthy meal or snack.

While it’s not quite the season for fresh summer fruits (can you say peaches in August?), it is the time when we no longer feel like we have to eat our weight in soup to feel full and ready to face the winter chill.

Smoothies are a great breakfast or snack option, especially for people who don’t eat enough greens. Because the fruit makes the smoothie taste great, it’s an easy medium to get a complete dose of protein and vitamins that you otherwise might be depriving yourself of.

So, try tossing these in a blender the next time you’re hungry!

1 Banana
1 large handful of spinach
1/2 cup frozen berries of your choice
1 serving of plain Chobani or your favorite brand of green yogurt
a dash of cinnamon
a splash of milk
1 tsp of honey

Make sure to pour in the liquid ingredients first to make the smoothie more evenly blended. Also, if you’re not a fan of the yogurt option, try subbing in a spoonful of peanut butter–the banana will come through and tastes amazing, we promise!

Happy spring and happy blending!
