Spook-tacular Treats

As Halloween fast approaches we are all searching for any way to up our ~spooky season~ game.  What better way to get into the spirit than to upgrade your snacks from blah to boo-tiful? Here are a few treats VALLEY will be obsessing over this Halloween. 

Creepy Crawlers
What You’ll Need
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 1 container of black icing
  • 1 container of white icing
  • 1 package of red or black licorice
  • 1 foot of parchment paper
What You’ll Do
  1. Arrange cookies flat on parchment paper.
  2. Cut threads of licorice into 1 inch pieces.
  3. Place three dots of black icing on both the left and right side of the top of the cookie
  4. Press the edge of the licorice into the icing to secure it creating legs for your spider. Repeat for each icing dot.
  5. Place two medium sized dots of white icing on the top of the cookie.
  6. Place two smaller dots of black icing in the center of the white icing to create eyes.
  7. Enjoy!
Graveyard Dirt
What You’ll Need
  • 1 package of chocolate pudding
  • 1 container of Cool Whip
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 1 Gallon-sized plastic bag
  • Gummy worms
  • 1 package of Milano cookies
What You’ll Do
  1. Prepare pudding according to package instructions.
  2. Place Oreos in plastic bag and smash until the cookies are completely crumbled.
  3. Combine Cool Whip and chocolate pudding in a large bowl
  4. Sprinkle cookie crumbles on top of pudding mixture.
  5. Place desired amount of gummy worms on top and serve chilled.
  6. Dip the Milano cookies halfway vertically to add gravestones to complete your graveyard.
Spider Web Apple Pops
What You’ll Need
  • 3 Granny Smith apples
  • 15 popsicle sticks
  • 1 package of milk chocolate chips
  • ½ package of white chocolate chips
  • 1 toothpick
  • Parchment paper
  • Orange sugar sprinkles
What You’ll Do
  1. Slice apples lengthwise into ¼ inch slices.
  2. Stick a popsicle stick through the bottom of each apple slice.
  3. Melt milk chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds.
  4. Repeat melting process with white chocolate.
  5. Dip apple slice in milk chocolate, completely covering the apple, and place on parchment paper.
  6. Using a spoon, place a small amount of white chocolate in the center of each apple pop.
  7. Use the toothpick to guide the white chocolate to the edges of the apple to form a web shape.
  8. Decorate with orange sprinkles and chill before serving.
