Thoughts become things, or at least according to the law of attraction, they do. The Law of Attraction is a concept that suggests positive thoughts and actions will attract positive outcomes, and conversely, negative thoughts will attract negative results. In other words, “like attracts like.”
While it seems absurd, can our thoughts really shape reality? Many who praise manifestation have described its incredible properties to build dream lives, grow prosperous careers or even find love. So how exactly does manifestation work, and how can you implement it in your everyday life?

Finding Reality
Our brains cannot determine what has actually happened to us or not. This phenomenon is known as “cognitive dissonance” where the brain cannot differentiate between the real world and the imagined one. For instance, it is unable to decipher whether the crush you believe likes you back actually does, or whether that test you feel you will fail is real or not. Since your brain cannot determine reality and what’s made up, what you genuinely believe within your thoughts, the world will make it happen in your life.
In the novel “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, “The Law of attraction is a law of nature. It is impersonal and it does not see good things or bad things. It is receiving your thoughts and reflecting back to you those thoughts as your life experience. The Law of attraction simply gives you whatever it is you are thinking about.”

The Power of Belief
Thinking is only one aspect of manifestation, but it is a true belief that will shape outcomes within your life. So if you believe you will succeed in something, you may be more confident or likely to take those steps to get there, likewise if you if you believe failure is inevitable, you may sabotage yourself during the process or reduce your chances to achieve your goals.
Believe in your thoughts and desires as if you already have them. An easy way to picture it is that you want this thing so badly because you already have it in the future. The Law of Attraction doesn’t suggest you sit back and wait for things to come your way, it emphasizes aligning your thoughts with your actions. The universe will bring opportunities or interactions your way, but it is up to you to what you make of them.

Don’t Overthink It
Now your head may be racing, overanalyzing every thought or instinct you have ever had, but there is no need to worry! Monitoring every thought may seem daunting, but manifestation doesn’t need to be that tedious, simply changing your mindset to one of gratitude can bring forth a positive change.
It can be integrated into your day-to-day whether it be visualizing your goals as if they’ve already been achieved or by using positive affirmations such as “I am successful” or “I attract positivity” to reinforce your beliefs. These small changes in thoughts can make a large difference. Above all else remember to remain grateful. The more you appreciate what you already have, the more you may attract good into your life.

Learning the Law of Attraction allows us the opportunity to use the power of the mind to shape the future that we want. While it may not be our thoughts working alone, it can influence our actions and behaviors to reach a desired outcome. Whether you believe in its properties or not, with positive thinking and action you can make your desires a reality.
