Songs for the Best Post-Quarantine Summer

This summer is going to be extremely important for the music industry. Along with concerts, COVID-19 has also restricted artists from producing music. With mask and capacity mandates being lifted this summer, artists will be back in action when it comes to producing new music and performing. In order to get excited for a somewhat normal summer and new music to enjoy, keep reading!

Pop: “Lost Cause” by Billie Eilish

“Lost Cause” by Billie Eilish, is a summer song waiting to blow up. Eilish has been due for a new song and something tells us this won’t be her last release this summer. What song is more perfect to get excited for her upcoming concert at the Bryce Jordan Center on Feb. 10?

Luckily, Eilish will be singing at many venues this fall; her “Happier Than Ever” world tour starts Sept. 19.

Country: “Forever After All” by Luke Combs

Who doesn’t love country in the summer? Having the windows down and some Luke Combs blasting through the speakers sounds like a pretty good summer day. Forever After All” seems to be a fan favorite because of its background and catchy lyrics.

Combs will be traveling everywhere from South Carolina to Utah on his 2021 tour, so be sure to check out if he is coming to a venue near you! Nothing is better than attending a country concert in the summer with some friends and family.

Indie: “Is It True” by Tame Impala

Tame Impala is known for their vibey and catchy tunes. Many would not think to pick the band as their first choice for a summer jam, but picture this: you and your friends are getting ice cream on a hot summer night with a vibrant sunset in the sky above. You want to play music, but aren’t sure what fits the vibe. What fits a sunset drive better than Tame Impala? “Is It True” is perfect for those nights when you just want to drive around and listen to some good music.

Tame Impala plans on resuming their tour starting July 22, so be sure to know their tunes before attending! The band is known for their extravagant light shows during their sets, so fans will be in for a treat.

Hip Hop: “Ski” by Young Stoner Life, Young Thug, Gunna

All three of these names have been frequently putting out music that has kept listeners engaged and excited for more to come. Young Thug and Gunna have been known to collaborate on albums before, creating their Young Stoner Life name. Their latest album, “Slime Language 2,” debuted just in time for the summer. “Ski” is one of the many songs that has gained popularity along with the album.

Of the singers involved with the album, Gunna seems to be bouncing back quickly when it comes to performances and content creation. His electric energy and ability to produce new content quickly has set him up for a few upcoming concerts and big events (like Rolling Loud).

R&B: “Change” by H.E.R.

Lastly, R&B is a genre that must not be forgotten. H.E.R is climbing the charts with her single “Come Through,” featuring Chris Brown. Recently she has also been focusing her music on the Black Lives Matter movement; “Change” was made for the upcoming Netflix series We The People, and is slowly making its way up the Spotify charts. It is a perfect song for staying involved in social issues as well as supporting good music this summer!
