Are you ready for Penn State football? Known as one of the biggest weekends in State College, White Out weekend is upon us! With ESPN’s College Gameday en route, the excitement and anticipation is skyrocketing in Happy Valley. VALLEY has put together a guide for the upcoming White Out against Auburn University on Saturday Sept. 18.

Do: Get Lots of Sleep The Night Before

Let’s face it — the White Out is a beautiful, emotional and exhausting experience. With kickoff at 7:30 p.m., attendees will be tailgating for the majority of the day. You don’t want to be that person who falls asleep before the game!

With that being said, make sure you get a reasonable amount of sleep the night before. This will ensure that you’ll be ready to cheer on Saturday!

Don’t: Wear Uncomfortable Shoes

Between walking to tailgates and standing in the student section, comfortable shoes are essential for this weekend. Plus, nothing makes an outfit come together like some adorable white sneakers! Looking for some shoes to wear? Some to look for include: Reebok Club C 85 Shoes and Nike Air Force 1s

Do: Bring a Portable Charger

With over 100,000 attendees in Beaver Stadium, the reception gets rough. To prevent a dead smartphone before kickoff, bring a portable charger to the game. These chargers can be found downtown or online for a reasonable price.

Don’t: Skip Breakfast

Have you heard the saying: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?” Your parents were right when they told you that! Skipping meals is never healthy, especially on game days. Make sure that you and your friends are drinking enough water and eating substantial meals. Keep your energy levels high all day long!

Do: Have Fun

Penn State’s White Out is truly an unforgettable experience. Cheer loud for the Nittany Lions and make sure to have fun and stay safe! Show us your white out experience by tagging us, VALLEYmag, on Instagram.
