By now we are all painfully aware of the trend cycle shackles that detain both our wallets and closets. Whether it’s those barbed wire esq. rubber chokers, bell bottom jeans or a tasteful cheetah print, every trend comes back around. It happens again, again and again. So why not take a break from indulging your wardrobe or bathroom vanity in yet another fad? Instead, get ahead of the trend by investing in it. If investing is a foreign concept to you, which is completely normal, we’ve found the perfect TikTok account for you!

@GirlsThatInvest, spearheaded by Simran Kaur, is breaking the finance bro bubble by creating investment based content targeted for women and young girls. Turns out all we needed was for it to be girlsplained!

One of our favorite tips from the account is investing in trends. By now we’ve either seen them, know how to spot them or desperately want them. Either way, you should be using those social media-trained eyes as an advantage to invest in brands and companies as they’re blowing up. Imagine how much Rhode peptide lip-treatment you could afford if you had actually invested in Rhode! The same goes for most of your favorite celebrity owned or created brands such as SKIMS, Rare Beauty and even CasaMigos.

In the specific TikTok we’re referencing, Kaur wrote, “I don’t use Ozempic, but I do invest in Ozempic. Their shares went up 90% in a year and just became the 12th largest company in the world, overtaking Tesla. Investing in trends instead of only using trends was one of the ways I grew my investment portfolio.”

The comment section was a symphony of women chiming in with their own investment tips, tricks and even success stories of how investing in trends helped them buy their first car!

However, we don’t want to oversimplify the investment game, no investment is a sure thing road to riches. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t start either.

The mission behind Girls That Invest is simple, “Men worldwide typically hold 50% more wealth than women. We also don’t get a chance to catch up if only 15-25% of women are investing… Our podcast, Girls That Invest quickly became the world’s #1 investing podcast for women who wanted to learn about investing – without the jargon. Our work demonstrates the need for more investing education tailored to help tackle the wealth gap women are facing.”

End the gap by starting in your own bank account. For more information on how to invest and where to begin check out GirlsThatInvest as well as their various social media accounts!
