If you have glasses, the chances are that at this point you’ve had them for as long as you can remember. Or if you can remember, you’ve had them at least long enough to be used to them and learn that there are definite pros and cons.
Could you imagine having to save all of your food not because you had to go shopping, but because you didn’t know where your next meal was coming from? A Penn State fraternity is trying to stop that from happening in State College.
We’ve all been there – you open a bottle of wine to see that you poked a hole through the other side of the cork….
Some of us are fortunate enough to go to paradise and relax and work on our tans – but for those of us who are staying home and will be bored after the first weekend, Valley has the perfect task for you.
One of the best parts of the holidays is all of the delicious holiday drinks and desserts – especially those with the special “holiday” flavors, like nutmeg and peppermint. But what if I told you that you can easily make your own peppermint desserts at home? The best part is, most of these ingredients can be found in McLanahan’s – so pour a cup of cheer and enjoy!
Move over spring, summer and winter. I’m here to tell you that you’re all overrated and your weather sucks. Autumn is hands-down the best time of year, and here’s why.
For most of us, Halloween is the one time a year that we enjoy being spooked, going to haunted houses and watching scary movies. That being said, it’s probably safe to say that hardly any of us would actively try to find ghosts in haunted places.
The fall and winter seasons are by far the best when it comes to color on your lips. Deep reds, shimmery pinks and wacky designs for Halloween are so much fun to play with, but with the fun colors of fall and winter also comes the cold, windy air and chapped lips. This week, Valley’s pick of the week is lip balm – but not just one! Take your pick and make sure your lips are soft and kissable for the upcoming winter months.
We’ve all been in that situation: we’re watching a sport with our friends and we know absolutely nothing about it other than that they have some smokin’ hot players. While I pride myself on knowing a lot about football, I watch a lot of games only to ogle at how good looking these men are. This week, Valley’s Man Crush Monday is the top 10 hottest players in the NFL. A huge shout out to my roommate, Megan Kraft, one of the biggest football fans out there, for helping me compile this list and giving us reasons why they’re so hot.
It doesn’t matter if it was a one-night stand or if you have been with your partner for a while; accidents happen. When they do, we at Valley want you to be prepared. Buying the morning-after pill can be awkward, especially if you don’t know what to expect, so let us help:
The popular dating app Tinder seems to be a must-have among college students. I caved and joined a few weeks ago, and while the attention I’m getting is fun, it’s nothing compared to some of the bios I’ve seen. So gentlemen, this week Valley tells you: What your Tinder profile says about you.
College is a stressful time for everybody, but for some students, it’s so stressful they sadly never make it home. Suicide on college campuses is a taboo topic that’s rarely spoken about. It seems like there are only one or two resources to help students.
Everybody always talks about staying here over the summer – for some people it’s to work, some to play and for some to take classes. While staying here with your friends seems like a great idea and many people say summer classes are “easier,” they aren’t all fun and games. Here are things you should keep in mind before registering for the summer.
Fact: According to the U.S. Department of Justice, one in five women will be sexually assaulted in college.
Fact: Since August 23, 2013, 24 reports of sexual assault have been filed with local (State College or University Park) police.
Fact: According to the Center for Public Integrity, 90 to 95 percent of all college cases go unreported.
It’s scary to think about, but a medical emergency can happen to anybody at any time. While some of us had to take health classes in high school where we learned CPR and how to stop someone from choking, would you be able to do that now?
Scheduling courses in college can be really fun because except for the core classes for our majors, we get to pick what we want to take. Do you want to learn about Ancient Egypt or the Holocaust? Are you interested in doing two yoga classes or taking Nutrition 100?
While this is an incredible school and we’re all so lucky and happy to be here, there’s no doubting that there are some pet peeves from being around this area that only Penn Staters can understand.
College is a confusing time for everybody – we’re all growing up and in some circumstances growing apart from our friends. But which friends should you keep? Luckily, Valley has the scoop on the friends who will benefit you through every stage of your life.
Snap Chat is a wonderful app—you can send goofy-looking pictures to your friends so you can all laugh at each other, and what’s better than that? One of the best things is the photo story in which you can view snaps again and again, but if you’re the one that sent a less-than-flattering snap, you probably can’t wait to delete it.
With spring break just around the corner (wasn’t it just Thanksgiving like a week ago, though?), we will all need something good to listen to. Let Valley take care of your spring break playlist for you.
