Spring break diets were supposed to begin the moment students arrived back at State College from winter break…that is until it was quickly ruined the first few nights back at school. If you are like most, you went out every night of Syllabus Week, stopped by the hot dog man’s stand outside of The Den, and ended up skipping the gym because you were too tired from the night before. Now, we are under two weeks away from spring break and the anxiety is hitting hard.

Don’t give up just yet, (almost) two weeks is just enough time to detox your body and get bikini ready. Here are some good excuses to not go out and helpful hints on how to clean up your binge-eating act.

1. State Patty’s Day

Your #1 reason for not going out this weekend is… that the bars will be closed on Saturday. If your friends want to throw an apartment party, it will most likely get busted so why waste the calories drinking when you’re just going to end up paying a fine?

Tip: Eat clean this week –possibly replacing one meal a day with a green smoothie—no, not a St. Patrick’s themed drink — a smoothie filled with lots of veggies and fruits.

2. Going Out During the Week = Too Many Calories

If you are eating normally and then going out at night, your intake of calories will nearly double your normal consumption. A Corona is 148 calories per 12-ounce bottle and vodka is 97 calories per 1.5 fluid ounces –you don’t even want to know how many calories are in margaritas and other flavored mixed drinks. Remember, if you are going out every night of the week, the weekends won’t be any fun – be patient!

Tip: Stay in this week and hit the gym instead of the bars.

3. Drunk Eating + Greasy Breakfasts

Some nights, drunk eating is inevitable, but even if you avoid eating late at night, I promise you will still wake up and crave a calorific meal –egg and cheese on a bagel anyone? Unless you are working out extremely hard and have about 1,200 extra calories to expend, you will end up eating more calories than you are burning and will not see any change in your physical appearance.

Tip: If you are hungry before bedtime, try snacking on Greek yogurt or having caffeine-free hot tea. Sometimes your body thinks it is hungry when really it just needs to be hydrated.
