Looking to upgrade the aesthetic appearance of your bathroom? Just add Eucalyptus. Adding plants instantly upgrades the look and feel of your shower while also providing a surprising variety of health benefits.

Eucalyptus is known as the natural healer. It is especially effective at relieving stress. The various benefits of eucalyptus oils include:

  • Promoting relaxation & stress relief
  • Eases joint pain
  • Improving respiratory health
  • Reducing inflammation in the body

You can reap the benefits of eucalyptus by simply hanging it in your shower. The steam of the water does all the work for you by allowing the eucalyptus leaves to release their oils into the air.

If you are looking to hang eucalyptus branches in your shower, it does require a little more work than simply tying it to your shower head. You’ll need to be sure to roll out the leaves to get the branches to release the essential oils. This can be done by simply rolling over the branches with a rolling pin, a wine bottle, or whatever’s handy for you. Just be sure to place something under your branches, such as newspaper or a paper bag, to limit the mess — things can get a little sticky!

All that’s left is to hang it up! Take a hair tie or a rubber band and wrap it around the bottom of the leaves, securing it to the top of your shower head. You can choose to either have the branches hang directly down or secure them horizontally. The idea is to just make sure the leaves are not directly hitting the water.

If you don’t want to hang the branches on your shower head, don’t worry — you can also place your branches in a vase for a similar effect!

Once your branches are hung, the steam from your shower will create soothing, decongesting aromatherapy throughout your bathroom. The branches will give your shower a spa-like effect, transporting you away from the stress of classes even if only for a few minutes. Just be sure to replace your shower-bouquet every three weeks or so.

Looking to buy some eucalyptus for your bathroom? Trader Joe’s has fresh eucalyptus branches available in their flower section, and your local grocery store might too. If you’d rather have it delivered straight to your door, Etsy and Amazon are great resources. Make sure you’re ordering either fresh or dried eucalyptus branches — artificial ones can look very real and can be very deceiving.
