What’s The Deal With Tea Tree Oil?

We’ve all heard that essential oils can be used for everything, but how many people know what they are specifically good for? VALLEY is here to tell you how you can put tea tree oil to good use! According to Healthline.com, “It’s an inexpensive natural alternative to chemical-based skin and nail treatments, personal care products and disinfectants, among other things.”

Acne Treatment

Acne treatment is one of the most known uses of tea tree oil. It has been found to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide, which is found in most acne face washes. The difference is that tea tree oil does not have any of the negative side effects that come along with benzoyl peroxide, such as dry skin, redness or stinging. Tea tree oil can either be used as a spot treatment or as a face wash by mixing it with coconut oil and aloe vera gel.

Hair Treatment

Similar to the acne treatment face wash, if you mix tea tree oil, coconut oil and aloe vera gel, you will have a hair treatment that you can use to combat dandruff and dry skin! Adding other essential oils like lavender, can make the treatment smell better too!

Cuts and Scrapes

After cleaning a cut with hydrogen peroxide and water, put a small amount of tea tree oil to help fight off potential infections and bacteria!

Toothpaste

Everyone has heard that baking soda is a great alternative for regular, store-bought toothpaste. To bring it to the next level, mix tea tree oil and coconut oil into the baking soda. These two extra ingredients not only help to clean teeth, but also help in reducing gum inflammation and tooth decay.

Odor Repellent

If you are looking for a natural deodorant, tea tree oil is the way to go. Mixing tea tree oil, baking soda and coconut oil creates an extremely effective body deodorant. If you have stinky sneakers, you can also spray a mix of tea tree oil and lemon essential oil to get rid of the stench!

While there are plenty of other uses for tea tree oil that range from a laundry freshener to an all purpose house cleaner, these are just a few of the top uses for your body!
