Valley’s Guide to a Summer Music Festival

Have you ever been to a music festival? Thinking of attending a late one this summer or prepping for next year? Recently, the music festival scene has become a major trend for lovers of music and good vibes. And, of course, with this new trend comes a specific new style. So grab your suitcase and your ticket, Valley is here to help you pack your bags for your next festival!

The most important thing to remember when packing for a music festival is that comfort is key. The last thing you need is to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bag full of clothes that are great for going out at night, but not nearly comfortable enough for four days in the sun. Here are a few essential tips to insure that your festival experience and your outfits are on point.

Pack at least one sundress or cover up

Sure, it’s not the beach, but sometimes the best way to ensure comfort at a festival is to dress like it is.  Sundresses and beach cover ups are ideal for a festival setting because they are loose and airy, which is perfect for a day full of  music and dancing in the heat.

Dress your head

There are so many fun accessories to add to a festival outfit. Hats and headbands are the perfect combination of practical and fashionable. Wear a floppy hat with a long maxi dress to rock a chic and versatile look, while keeping the sun out of your face. Or, tie a bandana around your head for a cute headband. Some festival grounds can be incredibly dusty and this way you can undo your bandana and hold it over your mouth to keep from breathing in too much dust and dirt while walking around.

Romper do’s and don’ts

Everyone loves a good romper! Since they have become a staple in almost every closet, there are countless styles to choose from. While a romper can look great on your Insta, it may be hard to insure full coverage and enough comfort while dancing around. Additionally, most music festivals only have portable toilets available, and taking a complicated romper on and off every time you go to the bathroom can be a major deal breaker. Always err on the side of caution when it comes to outfits that are full of complicated ties and buttons, sometimes simplicity is best.

Kickin’ it with comfort

Keep in mind that you are going to be doing a lot of walking. You want to pack shoes that are cute and sensible, so you’re not limping from concert to concert during the event. Secure sandals like Birkenstock or gladiators are a great mixture of comfort and style to match your festival outfit. And when in doubt, a good pair of converse can be perfect to compliment your look while keeping your feet clean and in dancing shape all weekend long!
