A lot of people did not know what to expect going into the premier of Disney’s live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast.” Given the many disappointing remakes that had preceded it, viewers tried not to get their hopes up. However, Valley is here to tell you to leave your expectations at the door and please, be our guest, because this remake is one for the — story — books.

Making its debut last Friday, March 17, “Beauty and the Beast” has topped the box office charts two weekends in a row, enchanting audiences across the nation. Many viewers found the movie to be incredibly nostalgic, taking them for a much-needed trip down memory lane.

“I loved it! It was very reminiscent of my childhood, I would definitely see it again,” says junior Danielle DiSanto.

Belle, the beautiful bookworm of a heroine, was played perfectly by Emma Watson. Watson, whose dazzling singing voice stunned viewers, played the role with grace and talent, acting so beautifully that you almost believed that she was Belle.

So now you can add singing to the long list of reasons why Emma Watson is the ultimate girl-crush. Right behind her strong feminist activism and amazing fashion sense.

Add in the unparalleled quality of the movie’s special effects, which brought to life teapots and candlesticks alike, and the tale felt more real than ever.

“Especially being a part of our generation, I thought it was so great to be able to see a movie that I have been imagining my whole life in live action. It was exactly like I imagined it would be,” DiSanto says.

Not only did the film inspire a trip down memory lane, but it perfectly kept to the original plotline while adding a few other surprises in as well.

In addition to the traditional songs like “Belle” and “Be Our Guest,” the movie also had a variety of new songs that were added for this adaptation. Between the new songs, and some interesting new plotlines, the movie was the perfect balance of the old and the new.

So, if you are looking for a new movie to see this weekend, or if you just want to relive a little bit of your childhood, check out Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast’. You won’t regret it.
