2016 Game Day Fashion

As Labor Day passes, we have the bittersweet goodbye to summer and the overdue hello to the beginning of changing leaves, sweater weather, and Penn State Football. And what might be the only thing better than packing 100,000 people into Beaver Stadium to watch the Nittany Lions dominate? The football fashion of course! Valley is here to help you cheer on the team wearing your best blue and white outfits yet.

Easy DIY Dress

This look is best for the sunniest and hottest football games, because it’s cute but also keeps you cool. The best part? You can make it yourself in two easy steps!

1. Start by taking a quick trip to your favorite Penn State store and pick up an oversized tee.

2. Lay your shirt face up on a flat surface, and cut both sleeves off at the seam. Then, cut diagonally from the collar of the shirt to the edge of the cut sleeve. Helpful hint: lay a ruler on the shirt for a straight cut. Repeat on the other side, making sure the cuts are symmetrical.

Style the dress with a bralette and your favorite pair of game day sandals or sneakers. With just a quick trip to the store and a few simple cuts, you are picture-perfect and ready for game day!

Basic Blue

Are you looking to keep it simple at the next game? Well, you can never go wrong with a navy Penn State tee and your favorite pair of light wash shorts. If it’s an afternoon game don’t forget to wear your favorite PSU baseball cap, to help you stay shaded from the sun. Or maybe you’re feeling the basic blue look but still want to spice it up a bit, in which case Valley suggests cutting your shirt into a front-tie crop top or — if you don’t trust yourself with scissors and your trusty Penn State tee — twisting a knot on the side.

Beat the Heat

The best way to avoid awkward game day tan lines is to wear a tank top. Valley’s all about this look,  especially at those sunny and hot 12 PM games. Loosely tuck a white Penn State tank into a pair of your favorite distressed denim shorts and slip on a pair of neutral flip flops or sandals. Accessorize with a pair of aviators or reflective shades and tie your hair up with a blue hair bow. Now, you’re prepared to soak up the sun and stand in the best student section in the country, while looking your best!

Valley knows the worth of a cute outfit, but on game day comfort is always key. When you consider all the wandering around tailgates, standing for hours during the game, and finishing out the day with the long walk back home you want to make sure you’re wearing comfortable footwear.

Wear your cute, new outfit with pride, show off your school spirit and chant “We Are” every chance you get and you’re guaranteed to have a wonderful — and fashionable — football weekend. Go Lions!
