Gift Ideas

To start off, it’s easier to get your holiday shopping in the works if you have an idea of what you would like to get each person in your life. In order to do this, you can browse Pinterest, look at the #gift section on Tiktok, or use Instagram‘s new and infamous shopping tab to browse tons of gift ideas and products.

Our favorite Tiktok account for this is @leahs.giftguide. If you celebrate Christmas, she does a countdown which can be helpful in keeping you on track. She also has hundreds of gift ideas, which she sorts into videos based on the type of person. From tomboys to hunters to basic teenagers, she has a gift idea for everyone! She also has videos that group gifts by price and aesthetics.

Make a List (and Check It Twice!)

Another way to keep on track for holiday shopping is to create a tangible list of the presents you intend to get, their prices, and your overall budget.

There are tons of resources out there to keep track of this type of thing, such as this gift planning sheet from lovelyplanner.com, or this one from papertraildesign.com. As you can see, both of these lists have a section to check off whether the gifts have been wrapped or not.

Spend Consciously

It’s also important to remember where you are spending money this (and every) year. Consider supporting small businesses on Etsy, buying secondhand clothes from Depop, supporting POC-owned businesses, and shopping sustainably online.

A great way to find businesses to support is to search hashtags like #SupportBlackOwnedBusiness and #ShopSustainably on Instagram. #SmallBusiness is another popular one on Tiktok!

Save Money as You Shop

Another great holiday time trick to save money is to download a browser extension like Honey. Honey helps you to find the best prices on products that you’re intending to buy online, and also searches for coupons — eliminating the hours of research you would have to do!

Don’t forget to always reuse, reduce and recycle when packaging gifts; the Earth will thank you! VALLEY wishes everyone a happy and healthy holiday season, and reminds you to wear your masks and keep your state’s mandated COVID-19 policies in mind!
