To help make Penn State’s campus feel less overwhelming, it is beneficial to find an area where you can feel calm and relaxed. At the end of the day, there is nothing like finding peace and serenity on campus.

Penn State’s University Park Campus is fortunate to be situated on an extensive piece of land, however, such an expensive campus can be overwhelming for students. Therefore, it is extremely beneficial and comforting to find a place on campus that can act as a hideaway and safe haven. We are so lucky to have access to so many different unique spots. Here are various locations located across campus!

Pattee and Paterno Library

The Pattee and Paterno library is located in central campus. Additionally, its calming features provide a comforting study spot that can seem like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of campus. Plus, what’s not to love about having a Starbucks within the same building? Regardless of your study preferences, you’re bound to find an area in the library that fits your needs.

Peace Garden

The Peace Garden is conveniently located between Old Main and the HUB-Robeson Center. This unique garden is extremely serene and no pun intended, it’s truly peaceful! It is a wonderful spot to help you feel calm and zen, despite the nearby hustle and bustle that is within the neighboring HUB. Additionally, it is absolutely beautiful to be outside, in the fresh air, hearing Old Main’s bell chimes every 15 minutes.

Business Building

The Business Building’s ground floor is an excellent study spot located between North and East campuses. It provides a lovely ambiance, especially due to Saxbys Coffee being available inside. Plus, it is situated across the street from the beautiful Arboretum, so even though it is away from central campus, it still is in a convenient location.

The Arboretum

The Arboretum is a beautiful and scenic spot on campus located behind the Business Building and next to the new Palmer Museum of Art, which will open later this year. While the Arboretum has plenty of different spots within, one area that provides excellent views and serenity is the Bird House which was completed in 2021. While we are still in winter now, soon we will be able to enjoy the Arboretum to see the spring flowers and to soak up the sunshine. This area of campus is superb for either studying, hanging out, having a picnic, and even just hiding away from reality.
