When College is “Colleging”

The most special moments that make your time here as a student at Penn State tend to consist of the ones where if looked at from an outside lens, it could be a scene from a movie set on a university campus. Those moments where you realize you are in the place you spent so much time of your life fantasizing about and waiting to get to.

The Weather is Finally Above 60°

The winters here in State College can be brutal and long. The snow and ice feel as if they’ll never melt away and the clouds will never move over to allow the sun to shine. Although, the moment this finally happens after those few months in the cold is what makes Penn State students appreciate the beautiful campus even more.

The Hub lawn becomes filled with students basking in the ever so needed sunlight and warmth. Kids can be found laying out their beach towels or picnic blankets to study, chat with friends or just enjoy the nice weather for however long it may last until the next cloudy day in State College. Downtown College Ave. becomes busier than the normal weekday, as students venture out on walks to Cafe 210 for a mid-day lunch or Family Clothesline as an excuse just to be outside. Nice weather will never fail to make Happy Valley feel just a bit happier.

Are You Ready for Penn State Football?

There’s no denying that Penn State football is one of the most electric atmospheres in college sports. Every Saturday home game brings loads of students, alumni and fans to the Beaver Stadium tailgate lots in support of their favorite team. The town becomes a sea of blue and white and the pride for Penn State is palpable.

Win or lose, the crowd remains loyal and excitement returns every time PSU football is back in Beaver. Inside the stadium is even more vibrant. The pom poms fly in the air and so do students when their friends toss them up and down after every touchdown.

Not So Small

Perhaps the most wholesome memories of them all are the most simple ones. One of the biggest aspects of college is the ability to grow socially and create bonds in a way that was not readily available during high school. During college your friends are always within a moment’s reach. You can head next door to your neighbor’s dorm if you just desire a change of scenery.

You can spend the evenings getting ready for a night out with your roommates while music blares, hair is being curled and endless outfit options begin to cover your apartment floor. Or, a night in can be spent with a bottle of wine and the most cringe-worthy, rom-com streaming on Netflix at the time. Those small times with your friends shouldn’t be viewed as casual or taken for granted because they are what make college so memorable.
