We are now in October, which means it is officially that time of year when the remnants of a summer well spent under the sun, are turning into a dreaded pale. It is too cold and cloudy to lay out, tanning beds are proven to be bad for you and finding the right self-tan is overly time consuming. But wait, there is hope! Meet Devon and Brooke Clark, sophomores here at Penn State who have turned the dream of a yearlong sun kissed tan to reality.
The Startup
The twin sisters started this business of spray tanning their senior year of high school, after watching their cousin do the same thing.
“It took a lot of time and training to get started,” says Devon, but the effort put in has surely paid off.
Twin Tans offers spray tans that “develop to each person’s skin tone,” says Devon. “It’s very cool to see how different it looks on everyone!”
Due to the personalization of the spray tan and the different ways it turns out on individual bodies, the pricing is based on different circumstances. If someone wanted to have a darker tan, for instance, the twins would spray them twice, which would result in a higher price.
The Tools
On their Instagram, @twin.tans, they explain that they use a mobile Evolv spray tan kit, which “is the only airbrush tanning equipment provider to offer a patented heated application.”
The solutions and additives used to create these glowing tans are all paraben, cruelty and wheat free. This mobile kit also allows for the duo to profit off of many different locations or cater more to their customer’s needs. The twins originally began the tanning business in Pittsburgh, but due to the mobility of their machine, the move to State College was super feasible.
The Results
They can spray you anywhere, whether it be in in the dorms, in their apartment or your own if that is what works best. No matter if it is for prom back home in Pittsburgh, formal season, looking good for game days, or just a step in the self-care routine, these twins are happy to provide you with a good tan and confidence.
