The THON 2017 season will be officially “kicked off” with the 16th annual THON 5K, along with the second annual Virtual THON 5K, on Sunday, Oct. 16.
Participants can partake locally in State College, but also remotely through the Virtual THON 5K. The virtual race allows supporters nationwide to participate in the event.
The main race starts at 11:30 a.m. at the BJC and the Kid’s Race starts at 10:30 a.m. The registration fee for the Fun Run is $15 and $18 for the Competitive Run.
At the BJC there will be live entertainment, activities for Four Diamonds families, and lunch for all event participants.
Steps Taken Towards a Cure pledge is a new initiative for this year’s THON 5K in which participants are able to nominate up to five people to take the pledge and donate one cent for every step they run during the event. The proceeds from this initiative can be credited towards an organizations total for THON 2017.
All proceeds from the THON 5K will be added to THON’s financial total in order to support Four Diamond’s.
