Let’s Fall in Love (Unconventionally, Of Course)

loveWho would’ve guessed it, miss Lana Del Rey was right, summertime sadness is an actually thing. No, I’m not talking about the beginning of summer when parties are in full swing and activities are plentiful. But what happens when things dry up? We start our summer jobs, miss the carefree days of hanging poolside with our friends, and fall into the unavoidable rut known as boredom.

So let’s talk about falling in love. No, maybe not the head spinning, all consuming, butterfly type of falling in love, but the love you feel when you try something new and realize that hey, you’re kind of into it. When the daily grind has you in its clutches, it’s easy to get down on life and sitting around waiting for things to get exciting just isn’t going to cut it. So how do you fix it? Ahh, I’m happy you asked.

Simply try something new. A new exercise craze, some wild, adventurous activity, a new genre of literature or movies. Need some help getting the creative juices flowing? Look no further. Grab some friends or fly solo, either way you’re bound to find something you’re good at or something you like!

Get Some Fresh Air

Even if it just means grabbing a book and lounging in the backyard, the great outdoors can do wonders for our psyches! A nice change of scenery should be the perfect bit of inspiration you need to get going.

Exercise

These days, it seems like there is a new exercise trend every other week! It’s always daunting to try a new workout, but if you can muster up the courage, a group class may really be the thing to get you back on the saddle.

Branch Out

Ask your co-workers, friends from class, or someone you just met to hang out instead of just sticking to your social circle. Sure, it may be a bit out of your comfort zone, but you never know what you can learn about yourself after learning about new people.

Volunteer

Nothing makes you feel as though you have a purpose quite like doing something good. Reminding yourself what you value is a surefire way to feel better. One day you’re falling in love, the next you’re changing the world!

Love comes in many forms. We love our families, our friends, our boyfriend/girlfriend, and our pets. We love books, we love seasons, we even love the way a warm coffee smells when we lift it to our faces on a chilly day. Love who you love, love what you love, just make sure you are always in love because when you have love on your side, you may actually do this crazy thing called love yourself.

Sure, you may have to kiss a few frogs before you land on your prince charming, but hey, isn’t that what falling in love is all about?
