Hidden Gems of Netflix

It is safe to say there are shows on Netflix that everyone has come to know and binge. Who doesn’t love to watch the “Stranger Things” crew fight the Demogorgon? Would Netflix even be Netflix without Chuck and Blair or “The Office?”

Netflix has thousands of TV shows to offer—some unknown that are definitely worth the binge. If you’re bored at home with post-finals week blues and not looking to move for the next two weeks, VALLEY has the best and most underrated shows that you can Netflix and chill out with for the rest of your winter break!

You can only watch “Grey’s Anatomy” so many times, right?

For The Romance Junkie

Everyone can appreciate a good rom-com. If you love all things fashion, New York and anything that screams cheesy and light-hearted, “Carrie Diaries” is the show for you!

Starring AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw, the TV show follows a youthful Carrie around as she makes her way into the fashion industry, dodging boys and all the friendship drama that comes with being in high school.

If you are more of an action filled, complicated romance person, VALLEY  has you covered. “Beauty & the Beast” is a crime-related, romantic thriller that definitely does not follow the typical Disney plot line.

For The Horror Fan

Let’s be honest, nothing beats Rick Grimes in “The Walking Dead.” However, there are still some jump, scare-worthy shows on Netflix worth the scream.

“The Returned,” from the creators of “Lost,” tells the story of several people who return to their home town after being dead. It is bone chilling and super creepy!

If you are more into a comical and less dark type of horror show, try watching “Santa Clarita Diet.” Starring Drew Barrymore, the new Netflix original series is both disturbing and hilarious. Watch alone or with friends to share some laughs and some squeals.

For The Future Detective

Crime, drama, suspense … “American Vandal,” a Netflix original series, is both super inappropriate and funny. The show focuses around a high school student trying to figure out who is behind a crime. You’ll have to watch the show to find out what. As as a warning, it might not be something you would watch with your grandparents.

“Forensic Files Collection” is the complete opposite when it comes to a crime show. This real-life “whodunit” crime series is perfect for those who really want to try and solve a murder case. The show has been searching for clues and investigating crimes since 2011, so you will have plenty of seasons to binge.

For A Good Laugh

Classic comedies are what every college student needs—especially during finals week. While “Friends,” “Glee” and “Family Guy” will always be options, VALLEY found some laughs you cannot miss out on.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is not talked about enough! This new Netflix original series is both funny and light-hearted. You’ll want to watch if you are intrigued by the idea of a girl who has been stuck underground for 15 years moving to the Big Apple.

If cartoons are more your jam, you should check out “BoJack Horseman.” The horse being voiced by Will Arnett, it is a five-star comedy that is sure to bring you a good laugh.

Put on your sweats, crawl under the covers and relax with some of these hidden gems for the rest of your break.
