Step into Spring With These Shoe Styles

Spring is almost here! The transition of seasons also marks the transition of our closets from bulky, layered articles of clothing to lighter (in material and color) options. Below, Valley created a list of the must-have shoes for this season and some advice on how to wear them, so you can start spring off on the right foot! (Let’s pretend that pun was funny…)

Espadrilles

Espadrilles are the perfect transitional shoe. Think of them as the spring version of your slide-on quilted Steve Madden sneakers. The braided stitching adds a whimsical component to the shoe which fits in well with the season of blooming flowers and lush green landscapes. They’re comfortable to wear while walking around campus, but also cute enough to wear out to brunch.

Style tip: Wear a pair of tie-up of espadrilles with cropped denim jeans and a white button down shirt for equal parts fun yet structured.

Low Heels

Kitten heels are coming back, and we know most of you are asking “why?!” But hear us out. A low heel is perfect for an occasion where a flat shoe is too informal, but wearing a stilettos would be too “extra.” Whether you’re tall or petite, the kitten heel will give you a little extra oomph to your height that’s just right.

Style tip: Straight legged jeans with an off-the-shoulder top and a pair of low heels is a winning combination for any date night.

Slide-On Sandals

Ditch your flip-flops for a pair of slide-on sandals this spring. These are a more chic, but laid back version of flip-flops. Experiment with bold colors and interesting embellishments.

Style tip: Pair your sandals with a light shirt-dress and white-rimmed sunglasses for a casual, breezy look.

White Sneakers

A pair of crisp, white sneakers adds a an edgy-sporty element to any outfit. A white sneaker is very versatile, as it can be the finishing touch to a monochrome outfit, or act as a neutralizer when wearing bold colors or prints.

Styling tip: Wear a flowy, floral dress with your sneakers for a cool combination of  “masculine” meets “feminine” look.
