Nick Viall Causes Bachelor Controversy

Bachelor Nation was taken by surprise during Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise when it was revealed that Nick Viall, a contestant on two previous Bachelorette seasons and this past season of Bachelor in Paradise, would be the Season 21 Bachelor.

Nick was a runner-up for both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons of The Bachelorette, leaving loyal fans heart-broken multiple times.

Originally, fan favorite from JoJo’s past season, Luke Pell, was favored to be the new Bachelor— and apparently he was just as shocked by the decision as the rest of America. ABC admitted to making a last minute decision when going with Nick, and producers say that Luke was more than ready to be the bachelor, even having signed a contract.

Some fans were outraged, saying Luke is the better option for the role, while others are ecstatic. Nick was painted somewhat as a villain the past few seasons, but made a turnaround on Bachelor in Paradise, which made it the perfect time for producers to leak the news.

Some might say that having Nick on the show again is a bit redundant, but seeing him handing out the roses this time is said to send ratings through the roof.

Here’s to hoping that Nick can finally find true love on a reality TV show for the fourth— yes, fourth— time.
