Lightweight: The Key to Summer Makeup

Summer is here and so is the heat. If you’re looking for that perfect minimalistic summer look, look no further. VALLEY’s got you covered with the hottest of lightweight beauty tips to get you through these sizzling months.

The foundation for lightweight makeup starts with a good primer.

One product VALLEY highly suggests would be a rose spray to prime the face. It gives skin a dewy look without the heaviness or tackiness of a primer. A popular choice is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray.

Along with that perfect facial mist, instead of a foundation, try a BB or CC cream – a lighter duplicate for foundation. Often times, these creams include an SPF and can help to achieve that “beachy glow” look.

Kaly Schwartz, a sophomore majoring in health and human development, says that she uses a pink eyeshadow in her crease to brighten up the eye without doing a full eye look every day.

Tarte also recently came out with the Sweet Peach Palette. Each of these shadows are warm, natural tones that blend seamlessly into the crease to create that summery look so many are searching for.

Another product to keep your eyes on this summer, is the new Benefit Bad Gal Bang mascara. It is similar to the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, but gives a longer, more dramatic lash effect – leaving you bright eyed and bushy lashed without having to cope with the price tag of extensions.

Speaking of those lashes, Babe Lash is a product that gives the appearance of eyelash extensions in three months (and yes, it really works). Babe Lash is a serum that is applied directly onto the root of the lashes, and is a third of the price of only one session of eyelash extensions.

Try combining Babe Lash with Bad Girl Bang mascara, to get the ultimate, low maintenance summer lashes you’ve only ever dreamed of.

A perfect bronze has the chance to really make or break a look. VALLEY suggests the Butter Bronzer or the Hoola Matte Bronzer to give skin a warm and glowing look.

The best advice that VALLEY suggests you keep in mind this summer: lightweight is comfortable.

“It is important because when it is hot you don’t want a heavy layer of foundation sliding around your face,” says Cassidy Dele,o a sophomore business major.

Deleo says that it in the summer people love to be tan, and layering on heavy makeup covers up that natural look everyone strives for. “Less is more in these summer months, especially when it comes to comfort,” Deleo says.
