It Girls: Where Are They Now?

Hilary-Duff-2013-Do you ever wonder where the child stars from your youth are now?

What are Mary-Kate and Ashley doing right now? Is Lindsay Lohan even acting anymore? What happened to Amanda Bynes after she was released from treatment? If you’re feeling a tad nostalgic, check out what happened to your old favorite celebs.

Hilary Duff

Our generation’s ‘it-girl,’ Hilary Duff, used to be everywhere. She released four albums, was on our televisions as Lizzie McGuire for four years, and starred in a whole bunch of movies (“Cheaper by the Dozen”, “Agent Cody Banks”, “A Cinderella Story”, “Raise Your Voice” and “Material Girls”). Following “Material Girls” in 2006, Hilary seemed to disappear from public. During this time she wrote a novel trilogy, starred in some random films, got married and had a child. Her son, Luca, is now two.

Get ready, Hilary lovers, because she’s planning to make a comeback; her new album will be released this fall!

Amanda Bynes

Perhaps the original ‘Nick kid’, Amanda Bynes starred in “All That” and “Figure It Out” before the network gave her her own show, “The Amanda Show.” After four years, she moved on to star in films such as “Big Fat Liar”, “What A Girl Wants”, “She’s The Man”, “Hairspray” and “Sydney White”. She retired from acting in June 2010, but unretired a month later. Two years later, she retired again.

After a whole lot of legal trouble in 2012, in 2013 Bynes was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana, attempted tampering with evidence and reckless endangerment. Later that year, she was detained by police after starting a fire in a driveway. She spent two months in a facility undergoing treatment for mental illness, and was released in December 2013. As of 2014, Bynes is enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Raven

Star of Disney’s “That’s So Raven”, Raven-Symoné is now 28. Since “That’s So Raven” finished in 2007, Raven has appeared in a few episodes of some TV shows, released an album titled “Raven-Symoné”, and has voiced the character of Iridessa in six Tinker Bell movies. After rumors about her sexuality circulated in 2012, in 2013 Raven indicated via Twitter that she’s a lesbian.

JoJo

JoJo released her first album at age 13. After her second album, “The High Road”, JoJo starred in two films “Aquamarine” and “RV”. JoJo hasn’t had any major hits or roles following this. Most recently she released an extended play titled “#LoveJo”, and had a role in the indie film, “G.B.F”.

Lindsay Lohan

We all know about Lindsay Lohan. Lohan has been in jail three times since 2007 because of her drug and alcohol addiction. Since then, she’s been trying to get her career back on track. She attempted to make a comeback as a serious actress last year in the indie thriller, “The Canyons”. This led to her gaining roles in the tv shows “Anger Management” and “2 Broke Girls”, as well as hosting an episode of “Chelsea Lately”. Most recently, Lohan was featured in a docu-series on the Oprah Winfrey Network titled “Lindsay”, which documents her recovery and return to the entertainment industry.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

The last film Mary-Kate and Ashley made together was “New York Minute” in 2004… Can you believe it?

They both attended NYU for a year before withdrawing. Mary-Kate underwent treatment for anorexia in 2004, and has since appeared in eight episodes of “Weeds”, and had a role in the film “Beastly”. She is now engaged to the half-brother of former French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, who is 17 years her senior.

On the other hand, Ashley hasn’t appeared in anything since “New York Minute.” Both the Olsens are now heavily involved with fashion. They have a fashion label called ‘The Row’, and launched a contemporary collection, ‘Elizabeth & James’, in 2007.

Mara Wilson

Remember that adorable girl from “Matilda”, “Mrs Doubtfire”, and “Miracle on 34th Street”? That’s Mara Wilson. She quit acting at the age of 13 because she didn’t enjoy it. She went on to attend NYU, and is now a writer and playwright.
