Everything on Grammy-nominee Victoria Monét

Victoria Monét the R&B and pop singer-songwriter, has been killing the game this year and secured seven Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album. 

Monét delved into the performing arts at a young age and later pursued a career in music. Initially collaborating with music producer Rodney Jerkins, Monét released a series of EPs in the mid-late 2010s during her time with Atlantic Records. In 2020, she gained widespread acclaim for her fifth EP, “Jaguar,” and its standout single “Experience” (featuring Khalid and SG Lewis).

Her debut album, “Jaguar II,” released in 2023, showcased the hit single “On My Mama” and earned her seven nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for the mentioned track and Best New Artist.

Monét is a notable collaborator of Ariana Grande, having written credits on Grande’s studio albums spanning from “Yours Truly” to “Positions.” In 2019, Monét received two Grammy nominations for her contributions to Grande’s “Thank U, Next” and the single “7 Rings.” The duo also released the hit single “Monopoly” in the same year.

Beyond her solo career, Monét has penned songs for various artists, including Nas, Travis Scott, Blackpink, Fifth Harmony, T.I., GOOD Music, Lupe Fiasco, Chrisette Michele, Coco Jones, Chloe x Halle, and Chris Brown.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Monét later moved to Sacramento, California. Her early involvement in performing arts and dance paved the way for her transition into songwriting. After a brief stint with the girl group Purple Reign, Monét turned to songwriting to sustain herself financially. She gained recognition with her work on Diddy Dirty Money’s 2010 album, “Last Train to Paris.” Atlantic Records signed her, and she released her debut EP, “Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 1,” in 2014, followed by “Nightmares & Lullabies – Act 2” in 2015.

Monét continued to evolve as an artist in the years that followed, releasing the “Life After Love” series and collaborating with Ariana Grande on the impactful single “Better Days” in response to societal issues. Her journey includes various singles and projects, with highlights such as “Monopoly,” “Jaguar,” and “Coastin.”

In March 2023, Monét returned with the single “Smoke,” featuring Lucky Daye, marking her first release since 2021. Subsequent releases included “Party Girls” (featuring Buju Banton) and “On My Mama.”

Monét’s songwriting prowess extends to her Grammy-nominated work with Grande, and she has expressed influences from artists such as Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and Coldplay.
