The rumors aren’t always terrible and cruel, but luckily for Taylor Swift fans…this one was true. VALLEY looks back to August ninth at Swift’s fourth Los Angeles date of her world tour, “The Eras Tour,” when the popstar announced the release date of her fourth re-recording, 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Swift who’s known for her “easter eggs” secretly added many of the clues on her Instagram posts, music videos and shows that her fans love to go crazy over. The order of the singer’s re-recordings are hints that fans commonly try to find in everything she puts up.

Swift’s record label with Big Machine Records ended in November 2018. This contract ended meaning the rights to her music on her original six records: Taylor Swift (Debut), Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation were now gone. When signing with her first record label at just fourteen, Swift signed away the rights to her music. When she signed her new record deal, Republic Records allowed her to record her first six albums (Taylor’s Version). Swift added songs she was not allowed to originally release on them, known as “From The Vault” including tracks such as, “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” “All Too Well (10-minute version),” and “I Can See You.”

The songwriter has now released three Taylor’s Version albums including Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) released in 2023. The goal of these albums is so Taylor can own her own music. Her most successful album originally, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was one of the most highly anticipated albums.

1989 has always been a loved album and the first true pop album Swift released. Many songs are assumed to revolve around specific past relationships, such as “Style” and “Out of the Woods” which are assumed to be written about her short relationship with singer Harry Styles. Other songs are more personal like “Blank Space,” which was written as a play on all the harsh words haters assume about her. With lyrics,

“Got a long list of ex-lovers, They’ll tell you I’m insane.”

1989 also has songs like “I Know Places” revolving around trying to make her relationships more private.

Swifties worldwide are most excited about the “From the Vault” tracks in this album after hearing rumors that there are over 100 written tracks that didn’t make the album. Most fans are hoping to get “Style ft. Harry Styles” or a collaboration with Swift’s best friend, Selena Gomez.

With 1989 (Taylor’s Version) being announced, Swifties only continue to wait for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version). The singer claimed that she hopes to release more albums while on her world tour, and fans believe this means all her re-recordings will be finished by the end of “the Eras Tour.” The only thing Taylor has left to do is take back her name and her reputation. Taylor Swift brings us back to her most successful era, with 1989 (Taylor’s Version), out on October 27th.
