Since the official announcement of their relationship in June 2020, actress Megan Fox and musician Machine Gun Kelly, or MGK, have become famously … or infamously, depending on who you are, known for all the antics that came with them being together.
Whether you think their relationship was objectively romantic or just incredibly cringe-inducing, you can’t deny their impact on the entertainment industry. Whether it was a red carpet appearance or a lengthy Instagram caption, you’d probably heard of them somewhere. Recently, though, Megan Fox posted — and then deleted — on Instagram a picture of herself with the caption “You can taste the dishonesty / It’s all over your breath.” Right off the bat, rumors of the couple’s break up became the talk of the internet.
We can’t determine the status of their relationship, but we can take a look back at the most memorable moments that the couple has given us over the years.
“I am Weed”
In an interview with British GQ, Fox recounted the pair’s first meeting — and it makes for a pretty funny story. A little weird but, you know, funny, per usual for them. “I just remember this tall, blond, ghostly creature and I looked up and I was like, ‘You smell like weed.’ He looked down at me and he was like, ‘I am weed.’ Then, I swear to God, he disappeared like a ninja in a smoke bomb.”
This story had the internet mostly just … confused. It didn’t really seem like the best conversation starter but hey, if it worked for him, it worked.
Organic Smoothies and Tantric Night Terrors
There’s … a lot to unpack here. Fox posted on Instagram to promote the couple’s photoshoot with GQ. This post no longer exists, of course, since she has now cleared, deactivated and then subsequently reactivated her Instagram account following the alleged breakup.
This was also making the rounds on the internet, with everyone just being generally confused about what the caption was supposed to be. It turned out to just be a promotional piece but it’s really a perfect descriptor of Fox and Kelly’s relationship. Or, at least, every bit of it that we’ve seen in the media against our will.
Drinking Each Other’s Blood … for Rituals Only
In an interview with Glamour UK, Fox addressed some of the rumors surrounding the pair allegedly drinking each other’s blood as a form of bonding. Apparently, they very much did do so — just not … a lot? “It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only,” she says.
It’s a clarification, for sure. Again, it’s no surprise that this one had people talking as well. To each their own. Still, Fox didn’t really do much to quell people’s concerns about it all and it only added to the pair’s repertoire of questionable relationship things.
The Engagement Ring
This one was infamous — people were starting to realize that the pair’s relationship might not be one to look up to. Maybe that should’ve been a long time coming, but it’s never too late.
Fox and Kelly got engaged in January 2022 and the whole ordeal seemed unusually sweet for the two of them, considering their history of public and media appearances. That was all flipped on his head when it was revealed that the engagement ring was made to hurt Fox if she took it off. The bands were made of thorns, because, as MGK liked to put it “Love is pain.”
