How to Dress for “Sprinter”

February brings many fabulous treats: Valentine’s Day, THON and according to Punxsutawney Phil… Spring! However, the “six weeks till Spring” journey can be a little tougher than one cares to admit. Especially in the Northeast, where weather changes at the drop of a hat. “Sprinter” here bears a bigger challenge than we often admit. Last week, it was a bright, beautiful 50 degrees. Now, snow boots have earned another shot trudging through the newest layer of iced sludge.

How does one dress for such a “Sprinter” crisis?

Layers

It’s all about the layers, honey! With the weather being so fluid, it’s important to bundle up or cool off at any given second. On a morning walk to class, it might be much colder than when you travel for your afternoon Starbucks run, so it’s important to prepare yourself for both temperatures.

Great options for this would be wearing a cute, plain tee under your sweater. This gives protection against the cold, but the option to cool down! Another option for making a comeback is a cardigan. A simple cardigan is easy to dress up or down and also has a trouble-free removal. This is perfect for doing extra work at the library or grabbing a bite to eat at the Hub!

Jackets

Without the perfect jacket, the weather will have its chance to give you that terrible February cold. Now, even if it’s 60 degrees, remember to bring a jacket! It is still February after all, and this advice runs through the whole month! There will be no jacket-less people until true spring shows her colors.

The perfect jacket can look like many things to many people. Last season, the leather jacket made its big debut. This season, the quilted jacket is all the rage. Lucky for all, this is the perfect “Sprinter” jacket for its lightweight material and cute, spring colors. The only downside is it isn’t very thick, so remember to layer!

Durable shoes

Shoe games can become increasingly tough during this season. Since it seems to snow once a week at random, it can be hard to bust out your new, cute spring kicks while maintaining durability. For this crisis, keep those Uggs on deck!

If the sneakers are calling, however, make sure you have some kind of a platform to provide safety from the sludge. For those following trends, the Sambas have adorable platform shoes that can keep your pants dry during these trying times.

Sweat Sets

Now, this might be a preference. However, it is important to stay cute, comfy and layered. There is no better way to do all of these things than in a sweat set. A sweat set can provide a girl running to class with perfect comfort and warmth, while the hoodie is so easy to take off! As a staple to the “Sprinter” transitional time, the sweat set has claimed its mark again with famous brands making leisure wear in again!
