Chubbies: The Frattiest Shorts Around

Chubbies. What are they? They’re not a nickname for fat people, they’re a staple of any serious frat star’s wardrobe.

Chubbies are a cotton short that falls high above the knee, and comes in pastel colors and fun prints like the American flag.

A word to the wise: Chubbies are not forgiving. The person who can wear chubbies is not too tall, not too short, not too skinny and not too fat. So if you’re about 6 feet, give or take a few inches in each direction, and in decent shape, you’re golden.

Unfortunately, those who don’t fall into the acceptable range, you would be advised to skip ‘em. There’s nothing worse than trying to pull off pastel short shorts and failing…because… you know. You’re already trying to essentially pull off long girl shorts.

The Chubbie is also ideal for the boy looking to stand out. Any guy who has the confidence to rock a short short is a winner in a girl’s book. And they also show girls that you don’t take yourself too seriously.

“They’re a combination of cool and also a little bit of douchey,” says Nick Waslov, a sophomore in a fraternity.

Maybe that’s what makes them so frattastic.

So this spring, keep your eyes peeled for these absurdly adorable little shorts. You can’t miss them.
