When it comes to dating, it can be very hard to find the perfect spot to bring your significant other, especially in State College. There are things to do in the area, but not many spots cater to dating and couples. Finding a unique activity for that special occasion is where the challenge lies and not every couple wants to do the same old thing. With the weather changing, there are fewer date night ideas. Needless to say, it is a struggle to be innovative.

To help ease the stress of planning out your next date, here are VALLEY’s top five unique date spots. These ideas are foolproof for the colder weather and you will have a blast visiting them.

Brunch at the Naked Egg Cafe

The Naked Egg Cafe is a must to visit with your partner. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and the service is great, so you really cannot go wrong. The menu is vast, making it easy to find food you will love. The Naked Egg offers both breakfast and lunch options, so you can eat practically anything depending on your mood. The Naked Egg would be a great place to visit for a first date because it is casual enough to alleviate some of those first-date jitters, but still has a cute vibe that you will fall in love with.

Picnic at Arboretum

I know this option sounds basic, but the process of preparing for this date is just as good as the actual date. Bring your partner to Walmart and buy a picnic blanket and charcuterie board together. This bonding before the bigger plans is a great ice breaker and you’d be shocked how much you can learn from a person while shopping at Walmart together. Once you buy all your supplies, head on over to the Arboretum, lay out your blanket and snack together. Sometimes the more popular State College dating ideas are the most fun.

2000 Degrees

Doing pottery with someone you are seeing sounds like a scene out of a movie, but it is actually extremely fun. 2000 Degrees is a pottery studio in downtown State College. You don’t have to be an artist in order to have a great time here: channeling your inner artist with your partner is a great bonding experience and this process will definitely spark great conversation.

Harner Farm

To get into the fall season spirit, Harner Farm is a great place to go. Harner Farm is arguably the best local place for pumpkin picking and has adorable seasonal treats and wine trucks scattered around the venue. This is a great place to go to if you want to have a pumpkin painting date where you and your partner can feel the fall festivities.

Ice Skating

Ice skating, while difficult, could be an amazing bonding experience for you and your partner. Slipping and sliding on the ice with someone is not only funny, but a vulnerable activity that can lead to a trusting relationship. This is also a great activity leading up to the winter holiday season. Visit Penn State’s Pegula Ice Arena for a public session and you’re set!
