Oh, the middle school days. Where Miley was still Hannah, school grades didn’t rule our lives, and not wearing makeup in public was socially acceptable. We could write a novel reminiscing about how fabulous the tween years were, but here are just 10 of the ridiculously middle school things you definitely did.
1. Made a Youtube Channel
You probably had a Youtube Channel where you and your BFFs posted videos of you lip syncing and dancing to songs like “My Humps” by The Black Eye Peas or “Smack that” by Akon. You thought you were actually hilarious back then and that one day you would be internet famous.
2. Watched the Premiere of High School Musical 1,2 and 3
You’re a liar if you say you didn’t absolutely love high school musical or that you didn’t watch it during a sleepover with all of your friends. You had a MAJOR crush on Troy Bolton and you secretly hoped people in high school actually broke out in song in the cafeteria.
3. Kept a Diary
You had a diary and you knew that if your crush read its contents you would have to move halfway across the world and hide under a rock for the rest of your life, because that’s how embarrassing you were. All you did was talk about how much you loved your crush and his super cute spiked hair and skinny abs. And don’t forget how athletic he was. He beat everyone in gym knockout.
4. Read the Clique Books
You would sit around in a circle with your girl friends during your Friday night sleepovers and rave about how ah-mazing the series was. Everyone worshipped Massie and you and your friends obviously referred to yourselves as the Pretty Committee. Everyone else you hated were LBRs (losers beyond repair), and if they ever tried messing with your clique the answer was always, “Opposite of yes.”
5. Rocked Abercrombie, Hollister or American Eagle every single day
Almost every shirt you owned had a gigantic name logo on the front of it, and if not it was across your butt on your pants. Your mom complained every single time you dragged her into Hollister because it was way too dark and the music was too loud so she sat in the couches by the entrance waiting while you tried on the same shirt in five different colors.
6. Had a screen name
Kewlgurl462, RangersfanXXoX, xxxjessxxx, SoccerstArXO, BballBaby500. You definitely had an embarrassing screen name that became your Facebook login email. You were on Aim every single night talking to all of your friends and waiting until you saw your crush sign on. Leaving a cool away message was a serious deal and even more serious was your buddy profile. What order should I put my friend’s initials in? J.K. L.M. N.S. W.K.? Or L.M. N.S. J.K. W.K.?
7. Went on Chatroulette late at night with all your girl friends
“OMG is that a… EWWWW” There are some things you just can’t unsee.
8. Straightened your hair every single day and had side bangs
There was one point in middle school where literally every single girl looked exactly the same. Conair was the brand of choice and everyone got side bangs just so they could pin them up on top of their head. Everyone’s hair was fried to death by the time they hit high school.
9. Had a Myspace account
Have you checked your Myspace lately? I bet there’s some pretty embarrassing stuff on there.
10. Slow danced at your school dance for the first time
You all had to prepare for high school and this was the prime time to do it. The DJ blasted “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion and your heart dropped to the floor when the first boy awkwardly asked you to slow dance. You stood 10 feet apart and couldn’t keep the same pace. But it was magical.
We can’t go back but we can remember. Rest in Peace middle school years. You will forever be missed.
