Red Carpet Fashion at the 60th Annual Grammys

It’s Grammy season again! “Music’s Biggest Night” celebrated its 60th anniversary last Sunday at Madison Square Garden, and the fashion worn by stars on the red carpet certainly lived up to the occasion. This event draws in the best music artists from around the globe to one location to see who’s best, and the competitive atmosphere of it all surely creates some killer outfits. Here are some of VALLEY’s top picks from this year’s ceremony.

Classic Black and White

Across the board, black and white monochromatic dress seemed to be a popular, classic choice for this black-tie event. Donald Glover owned the night in his white-out Ermenegildo Zegna couture tuxedo, topping off the look with black velvet loafers. Lady Gaga caught eyes in her black Armani Privé gown that featured a long, dramatic train (that actually had to be carried behind her at times!). Both Sza and Cardi B graced the Grammys red carpet for their very first time this year as breakout artists. Sza sparkled in a sheer, white Versace dress while Cardi B turned heads in her bride-like outfit designed by Ashi Studio.

A lot of ladies opt to wear extravagant gowns to the Grammys, but not these gals. Anna Kendrick killed it in a Balmain pantsuit paired with pink pumps. Janelle Monae looked fresh and fab in her floral Dolce & Gabbana set-up while Alessia Cara kept it cute and comfy in a navy blue suit and some converse. Kesha’s western-inspired look was embroidered with white roses, the new symbol for the booming #MeToo movement.

Despite the sea of black and white, there were just as many crazy, colorful exceptions among the crowd of celebs. Tyler, The Creator stunted in a wintry, baby blue Louis Vuitton ensemble and Kali Uchis graced the carpet in a metallic magenta jumpsuit with flared sleeves. Jaden Smith struck a pose in wacky patchwork pants and a printed jacket designed by his own brand, MSFTS. Pink stood out in a textured, strapless dress drawn together at the waist with a chunky belt.
