Front Row Fashion

As Fashion Weeks around the world come to a close we are left to reflect on the best styles on and off the runway. Every celebrity attempts to out-do the other in a noble effort to be deemed best dressed at a particular show. Each show brings new looks that are meant to grab our attention and invoke some type of reaction.

Twice a year the most fashionable celebrities descend upon four major cities for fashion’s most important weeks. During these weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris it becomes vital for celebrities to look their best. For the most part, each designer handpicks celebrities to dress and have sit in the front row — the most important and revered row in all events regarding fashion.

Front row style consisted of lots of sheer material this year ranging from Selena Gomez’s camouflage dress with sheer panels along the bottom at Coach to Karlie Kloss’s sheer Dior skirt at the Dior show.

“I wasn’t surprised to see lots of sheer material used so frequently in celebrity outfits as well as on the runways,” says Penn State sophomore Sarah Pettoruto. “It has been a trend even here at school for a long time.”

Celebrities also took the media attention surrounding fashion week to showcase new looks and styles, Cara Delevingne debuted her new platinum blonde bob at Chanel.

Fashion week is also a very important opportunity for up and coming celebrities to gain the important media attention they need to grow their personal brand. Kaia Gerber and Lottie Moss both took this opportunity to step out of the shadow of their legendary relatives, Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss respectively, with Gerber attending Tommy Hilfiger and Moss attending Chanel.

Our favorite female celebrities weren’t the only ones having all the fun, Zayn Malik and Nick Jonas were both in attendance at important and cutting edge shows. Malik cheered on girlfriend Gigi Hadid as she walked in the Balmain show. Shortly after the show, the dynamic duo announced Malik’s partnership with Versus Versace a brand which Hadid has been close to for a long time. Jonas also opted for the celebrity favorite show, Balmain, which was also attended by Nicki Minaj, Sara Sampaio, Winnie Harlow, and Jourdan Dunn.

Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian failed to make an appearance at the Balmain show, a brand in which she is good friends with designer Olivier Rousteing, following being robbed at gunpoint in her Paris apartment in October 2016.
