Choosing A Tattoo: For Indecisive People

Tattoos are a lifelong very permanent decision. Choosing one can be a pain for those who run away from that kind of commitment. Here is a simple and short guide for a unique tattoo. As you go down the list see which choices you are gravitating towards and take inspiration for your tattoo.

1. Detailed OR Simple

A detailed tattoo can have more intricate lines and show a better picture of what is on your body. However, these tattoos don’t always age as well compared to ones that are more simple.

2. Cartoonish OR Realistic

Ask yourself do you like the bubbly and thicker line tattoo look? Or thinner lines with shading?

3. Color OR Black & White

Sometimes adding a splash of color can really add to a tattoo and make it pop.

4. Nature OR Industrial

Flower tattoos are common for a reason, they look beautiful and unique to everyone. Other nature elements for inspiration are leaves, water, fire, trees and skies. A mechanical-looking tattoo has elements of cars, geers, buildings, structural components and metals (gold & silver)

5. Silly OR Serious

Maybe you want a tattoo that commemorates a loved one using a birth year or their handwriting. Serious tattoos can be a great reminder of things you find most important. But a silly tattoo can be a fun reminder of a spontaneous adventure with a friend. Or maybe you just really like diet coke and like the design on you. Either option can be meaningful, it depends on what you define as more important.

6. Script OR Drawing

Script can range from quotes, sayings, dates and anything that uses numbers or letters.

7. No Meaning OR Meaning

There is pressure with getting a tattoo for there to be meaning, but that’s not the case. Tattoos can be meaningful without a deeper meaning. Do you like the look or the design? For example, hearts are cute and simple, it doesn’t have to mean anything more than that.

8. Where On Your Body

Where to put a tattoo can be tricky. Do your research into what areas will hurt more if you are pain sensitive. Also, think about who are you okay with seeing your tattoo. Places on the hip or ankles can be less seen than somewhere on your arm.

9. Finding The Right Artist

Instagram is a great tool to find tattoo artists in your local area and see work they have previously done. Look for an artist who can specialize in the type of design you want. If you want a fine line tattoo, there are artists that specialize in fine line tattoos. You can send an artist your own description or ideas for a tattoo through dm or email. A tattoo artist can mix ideas for your tattoo and create something you like more than what you had in mind.

10. Do Your Research!!!

The best thing in this situation is to do as much research as possible on a tattoo artist. They will be your best source for the most perfect tattoo for you.
