Foodies Unite: Meet “Beli”

“Beli” is a food rating and recommendation app that was founded in 2021. The app is a free and fun way to also track which restaurants you have tried, making it easy to share with others.

What is “Beli?”

Beli is a relatively new app, much akin to a food-centric Instagram account. The app is free and available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Beli was founded by Judy Thelen and Eliot Frost, who were eager to find a platform that allowed people not only to rate restaurants, similar to Yelp, but also to book reservations, track places they had tried and also provide an easily accessible way to share restaurant recommendations.

Although the app began initially on an invite-only basis, it is now available for anyone to use. As an app user, you have the option to follow people and see their rankings and recommendations.

How it Works

Although users have the option to follow and invite friends to the app, there are incentives for sharing Beli with others. The more people one invites to the app, the more features they are able to unlock. These features include reservation priority, having the ability to add your social media account to your profile bio and seeing the average scores of different restaurants.

What makes the app so convenient is that it works for virtually any restaurant around the world. Beli has a feed page, “your list” page and even a leaderboard to compare your list of places visited with users in your specific city, as well as around the world.

As a viewer, when one adds a new restaurant they have tried, a question pops up, “How was it?” then they are prompted with three options; “I liked it!,” “It was fine” and “I didn’t like it.”

What Makes Beli Fun

Pictures can be added to ratings, along with inputting the exact menu item you ordered. Beli is a fun way to keep up with friends near and far, along with having a bookmark feature to save new places that users are eager to try.

The technology has the ability to provide recommendations it thinks its users would enjoy based on their past lists and follower’s picks.

With food content creators on the rise, other than their respective social media profiles, many foodie influencers are on Beli, providing an easy and straightforward way for their followers to view their restaurant recommendations, like @kaitlyneats!

If you’re looking for a unique way to track you and your friends’ restaurant lists, download Beli! It’s free, easy to use and oh so fun!

This sounds like a fantastic initiative. As someone who loves exploring local food scenes, an app that helps connect people with authentic, community-supported spots is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m curious, what regions or types of cuisine is “Beli” focusing on first?
