Diner Revival

Downtown State College has a new spot that is equal parts nostalgia and comfort food. Bubba’s Eggs, Steaks & Shakes opened its doors on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at 131 S. Garner St. The diner has taken over a space that has been a downtown landmark for decades.

A Cup Of Deliciousness

Stepping inside feels like a step back in time. The space features vintage memorabilia, a classic soda fountain and an overall ’50s diner vibe. Bubba and Brianna Stroh have designed the restaurant to be a place where both students and longtime residents can enjoy a meal, relax and connect over feel-good foods.

The menu highlights classic diner favorites with a modern twist. Breakfast includes pancakes, waffles, omelettes and unique options like breakfast sliders or French toast sandwiches. Specialty options feature salted caramel mocha and peanut butter banana pancakes. Lunch and dinner offer cheesesteaks, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads. Milkshakes are made from scratch and are customizable with toppings.

A Dash Of Nostalgia

Bubba, a chef with more than 20 years of experience, prepares all menu items from scratch. This focus on quality and homemade flavors sets Bubba’s apart from the fast-casual options that dominate the area.

Bubba’s is open every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the potential to extend hours in the future. Its arrival brings energy back to downtown and revives a space that had been empty for a while. The diner offers a warm, inviting atmosphere for students, families and community members, making it a place to gather any time of day.

For a true taste of the diner, try the salted caramel mocha pancakes for breakfast. A classic cheesesteak paired with a milkshake would make the perfect experience for lunch. Sitting at the counter or near the bar adds to the feeling of being in a classic diner from another era.
