Using Skincare as Makeup?

Photo from Pinterest.com

You’ve probably heard all the latest trends – makeup looks and recommendations come in cycles, dictating whether or not this month’s bare face, or if smoky, smudgy eyeliner is the way to go.

Well, regardless of the many makeup fads, skincare is one trend that never stays away. Brands and companies know that people care about the appearance and health of the skin more than anything else, so many brands have started to incorporate skincare-infused makeup products.

Typology is a French skincare brand that has taken it one step further. Every product that they sell has some sort of skin benefit. Their Tinted Care line is the definition of using skincare as makeup – they offer a tinted serum and a tinted concealer that offer coverage to hide blemishes while simultaneously helping to treat them. This line also includes a hydrating lip balm and serum mascara that coats the lashes and has ingredients that promotes growth and luminous glow drops that protect from environmental stressors.

The Tinted Care line has you covered for a light makeup day, and you can purchase these products knowing they won’t clog your pores while even helping your skin over time.

Here are VALLEY’s favorite products from the Tinted Care line:

  1. Mattifying Loose Powder

This loose powder is infused with 1% Zinc PCA. This is perfect for oily skin as the Zinc absorbs excess oil and is free of talc, silicones and nanoparticles, which a lot of traditional powders include to give a matte finish.

  1. Fortifying Brow Gel

The Fortifying Brow Gel keeps your brows in place – acting as a normal brow gel, but it is infused with peptides that help support the growth of hair, providing volume and growth over time. This comes in three shades – blonde, light brown and dark brown.

  1. Lip Oil

Lip oils are all the hype right now, and for good reason. Lip oils add a shine to the lips, and Typology’s lip oil is formulated with vitamin E, jojoba oil and squalene, adding much-needed hydration to the lips. It comes in six beautiful shades, including a clear shade, adding a natural, subtle hint of color.

  1. Color Corrector for Redness

If you struggle with redness or uneven skin, then this color corrector can be a great base for days you want your skin to look healthy without the need of pigment. It contains niacinamide, which is ideal for skin texture, and green seaweed extract which helps cancel out the redness of the face.

  1. Replenishing Lip Balm

Lastly, Typology’s lip balm is formulated with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, keeping the lips plump and moisturized for up to eight hours. This can also double as blush, as this is a cream-based product.

The Verdict

While you do not need to splurge on Typology, there is something to be learned from their range of products: you can embrace using skincare in place of makeup. VALLEY recommends investing in products like tinted sunscreen, which gives coverage while still being protected from the sun, a tinted lip treatment on both your lips and cheeks to add some dimension and color to your face and a serum or moisturizer to have glowing skin all day.

This may not be for every day, but as more and more brands begin to infuse skincare into their products, it is nice to know you can look good while still treating your skin.
