Belly and The Boys

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is based on the series written by Jenny Han. It follows the main character, Isabel Conklin, more commonly known as Belly, who learns about love, grief and how to navigate her life.

Belly spends all of her summers going to Cousins Beach, where her family and her mom’s best friends’ family go to spend the summer together. Susannah has two sons, Jeremiah and Conrad. Belly has been spending her summers there with the boys since they were little.

If you haven’t watched “The Summer I Turned Pretty” yet, a few spoilers are coming up below!

As you watch the show, you can see that Belly finds herself in a love triangle with the two brothers: Jeremiah and Conrad. Belly has had a crush on Conrad all of her life, and the pair does get together, but then grief happens. They all lost someone who meant so much to them. Conrad didn’t know how to navigate his feelings. Then, Belly and Conrad broke up.

Things get a bit messier, and Belly falls for Jeremiah! Conrad, of course, is devastated. He will always love Belly. Belly and Jeremiah are now in college and have been dating for a few years, while Conrad is in California studying to be a doctor. Another person who meant a lot to each of them almost died, and Jeremiah thought “life is too short,” so he asked Belly to marry him.

Obviously, she said yes. But, little did Belly know, a little part of her would forever and always love Conrad. Telling everyone they were engaged was a huge mess, but they eventually got everyone’s support. Things did not play out as they thought they would, though.

Students Share their Thoughts

Some Penn State students shared their thoughts about whose team they’re on and some overall opinions about the show.

“I’m team everyone does their own thing. I think they are too codependent and need to grow before they interact with each other again,” Macy Stickler says.

“I’m team Conrad because he truly cares about Belly and doesn’t only like her to get back at his brother. Belly needs to get her stuff together and pick one and stick with it,” Anya Clifford says.

Throughout this grand pattern of things you actually secure an A+ with regard to effort and hard work. Where you actually confused everybody was on the specifics. You know, as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And that couldn’t be more correct at this point. Having said that, permit me tell you what exactly did do the job. The writing is certainly pretty persuasive and that is most likely the reason why I am taking the effort to comment. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, while I can certainly notice a jumps in logic you come up with, I am not necessarily sure of how you appear to connect your ideas that help to make the actual final result. For the moment I shall subscribe to your issue however trust in the near future you link the facts better.
