Dear PYP Studio,

Who knew that a mat, a pair of medium weight dumbbells and ankle weights could leave me limping for days. But you…PYP…you know exactly what you’re doing.

I appreciate the attempt to tease the class that the workout might not be that bad. The first three minutes starting on our backs gives me hope that I might never have to move. Like most girls, I can sit and do core exercises for hours.

It is laughable for me to think that at this point because it would never be the case. Even in a 95 degree room, there will always be less bicycle kicks and more jumping sumo-squats with an added calf raise.

Thank you for the supplements provided to get us all through the workout. Jordan’s killer playlist on Wednesday morning and quick countdowns keep me from running out of the room for help.

Not only that, but I somehow feel my muscles getting stronger and tearing to pieces all at the same time. I will never understand how you demonstrate, perform and scream during the entire workout.

As someone who religiously only works out in the morning, I once tried the 5:30 Strength in Studio class thinking it would be a walk in the park. I will never underestimate your routines ever again.

I left there feeling that I have not gone on a walk since 2020 and in the best way. The way you make me feel out-of-shape is why I keep spending money on your overpriced drop-in classes. Every time I leave the studio I think “well next time it will be easier.”

After just twelve classes I think I am in the best shape I have been in years because of you. The way I feel about my health and body in the mirror makes up for all the times I look around the room for someone to save me.

It has gotten to the point where I prioritize coming to you over my actual classes. Missing an in-person quiz? No problem. Missing a 9:15 am Hot Pilates with Jordan? That is not a funny joke.

So you’ve done it, I am totally in love. I can’t stop talking about you, I can’t stop thinking about you and I can’t stay away from you. The endorphins I release with you are better than any mediocre man I have ever been with.

And as an offering of my loyalty, I promise to never miss a class I am booked for. I understand our time together is limited and it would be cruel to take it for granted.

Seriously – pilates instructors need to be studied. Kerry-Ann, Jordan and Jen – you are everything I want to be and everything I am scared of at the same time. How you do it is beyond me, but thank you.

Sincerely,

Your Obsessed Pilates Princess
