The Artist
Sanele Sydow, known by his stage name WizTheMc, is a 26-year-old South African rapper and musician from Cape Town. He is currently based in Toronto, Canada, and is both the writer and singer of this new hit.
The young artist has also toured across the United States, Europe and Canada with artists including Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and A$AP Rocky.
Other hits from WizTheMc include “For A Minute,” which reached over 66 million streams on Spotify and “All My Friends Are Stoned.” These songs also have upbeat energies and laid-back vibes.
Since 2018, WizTheMc has dropped five albums. The release of his latest single, “Show Me Love,” is the newest addition to his musical repertoire.

WizTheMc released the music video for “Show Me Love” the same day as the song’s premiere, and it has already amassed 6.8 million views.
The video truly brings the summer vibes of the song to life. From jamming out with friends in the car to dancing on the beach as the sun reaches its golden hour, WizTheMc proves in the video that his song is perfect for a summer day filled with zero obligations.
Comments under the YouTube video include, “I already feel like we’re in summer with this song,” (@justinbear7338) and “I can’t explain the feeling this song is giving me, but I love it,” (@micaelarojo9195). “Show Me Love” has touched many listeners and has even given some a dose of nostalgia — undeniable signs of a successful song.
What Makes A Summer Anthem?

Songs such as “Show Me Love” that have been termed “summer anthems” raise the question of, “what makes a summer song?” Billboard has defined these hits as “typically upbeat, feel-good songs that you can play poolside or at a barbecue.”
Billboard also lists previous summer anthems, mentioning “2021’s ‘Butter’ by BTS and 2015’s ‘Cheerleader’ by Omi.” Each year brings new songs that seem to capture the essence of summer.
USA Today spoke to Robert Thompson, the founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University, about the concept of summer songs. Thompson noted that these songs “have existed for as long as there’s been music.”
But there are actually no rules. A summer song can become a summer song if it penetrates the culture during the summer.
