The right color of jewelry can be used to bring out the color of your skin based on its undertones. Don’t assume that your skin has warm undertones because it is dark or that you have cool undertones because your skin is pale. Even very dark skin can have cool undertones, and very fair skin can have warm undertones.
Answer a few of these questions to find out the best shade of jewelry for your undertones:
When I look at the veins on the inside of my wrist they are:
A. More blue/purple than green
B. More green than blue
When I am in the sun, my skin:
A. Burns easily
B. Does not burn easily
My skin looks best in:
A. Colors such as navy or sapphire blue, emerald or forest green, and purple
B. Colors such as red, orange, mustard yellow, brown, olive green
The base of my skin is:
A. Pink, red, or blue
B. Gold, yellow, or brown
If you answered mostly A: you may have cool undertones! For your base jewelry, try something in silver or white gold. Some other people with cool undertones are Lupita Nyong’o, Mindy Kaling and Anne Hathaway. For colored jewelry, try something with a deep jewel tone, such as emerald, garnet, or sapphire.
If you answered mostly B: you may have warm undertones! Some other people with warm undertones are Jessica Alba, Blake Lively and Beyonce. For your base jewelry, try something in yellow-gold. For your colored jewelry, try earthy jewel tones like topaz, peridot, or turquoise.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
