It’s a classy, classic and sexy staple. It’s a flattering, simple option. Many of us have one hanging in our closet, but aren’t really sure what to do with it. You’ve worn it a few times, a friend has borrowed it. It looks great on, but a lot of people seem to have the view that it’s only acceptable to wear on rare occasions. We say: set that dress free! From your closet, that is. It’s the little black dress.
All you need to do is acquire a few accessories, and you’ll get the maximum mileage out of that flattering frock. Same dress, different outfit. It’s that simple.
Here’s what you’ve got to do:
1. Try adding a bold, dark toned necklace to make the look a little more fancy and elegant. If you’re going to a formal event (ahem – Frat Formal Friday, anyone?), a black dress is a safe option, but it doesn’t hurt to stand out and draw some eyes. Mr. Charles on College Avenue offers some beautiful necklaces that will make your little black dress look reach a whole new level.
2. If you’re looking to go a little more casual with your look, try adding a cute belt. Mr. Charles also has unique belt options, one of them having two bumblebees kissing as the clasp (aww!).
Access and Metro on College Avenue also have stretchy bead belts, which make any dress instantly more casual. A big perk of these belts are the comfort. If you’re headed to an event where you’ll be eating, nothing is worse than an annoying, tight belt. Stretchy belts look cool and feel good- what more could you ask for?
3. Tights, tights, tights! The right pair of tights can completely transform a simple dress into a one-of-a-kind getup. Look for dark colors like navy blue and deep, forest green. Don’t be afraid of unique patterns. If you’re wearing a plan black dress with no crazy textures or patterns, you can afford to take a risk. It’ll pull the outfit together and give you the satisfaction of standing out in a crowd.
4. Last but not least, finding the right pair of shoes is a must. Try adding a pop of unexpected color to your little black dress look by wearing some bright heels. Choose the color that fits you. You’ll still be achieving that oh-so-classy look of a little black dress, but in a fun way that expresses your personality.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
I truly appreciate this post. I’ve been looking all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You’ve made my day! Thank you again
