It’s All New

What we love: art, music, books— are all new inventions. Just one idea can blossom into something we didn’t know we needed. This is the general idea of creativity and without it, we are at a loss. There are no rules when it comes to using your imagination. Sometimes, you have to look outside the box to realize it’s not one at all. Physical objects are forever multi-use and VALLEY is here to show you how to embrace the strange.

Wall art is nothing new for the average crafter. Posters, painted canvases and banners string across walls. Fairy lights and star garlands hang above canopy beds. These are all great decor pieces but there are other items that should be considered too. Instead of keeping them on a desk, try clipboards as a back for your favorite magazine covers.

The same goes for picture frames. Usually, people use them to hold their best friends, pets or family. However, that is not their only use. They can turn into a key or eye glasses holder. All you need is a pair of old jeans or shorts with a pocket that you don’t use anymore. Plus, it can be hung by your front door so you can easily drop the items off when you get home.

Anytime of the year, VALLEY loves a good brooch. They’re glitzy. They’re stylish. They’re fun. Yet, they can get easily lost when tossed in a drawer. If you have a light that needs some sprucing up, try pinning them to the lamp shade. That way, they won’t go missing and the light will illuminate their sparkling exterior.

For the next idea, this magazine DOES NOT condone the destruction of fabulous belts. However, we will overlook it this time for the sake of craftiness. Lawn chairs can be broken easily, especially if they have a weaker exterior. Belts with leather are strong and can act as a stand in for other weaved materials. Try crossing the belts to cover missing holes in the furniture.

Everything has more than one use if you think about it. The issue is stepping out of your original thought process. Once you do that, there’s a world of possibilities. Take books for example. Yes, you’re meant to read them. What do you do with them after that? Most just place them back on a shelf, but that’s not the only answer. They can be used to prop items like an incense/candle plate.

A lot of people have mirrors in their bathrooms or bedrooms. It makes sense, how else would you do an outfit check? Apparently, it’s possible through stacking old TVs and adding a reflective glass. This is one idea that might require money, however, the end product looks really cool. You could also do this with just one TV and use it as a makeup mirror. Plus, it helps you be 2000s-reality-famous in your own space.
