Halloween Horrors: PSU Edition

Ghouls, serial killers, clowns. The fall season is plagued with the excitement for Halloween and the possibility of making it the spookiest time of the year. Whether you are the biggest scary movie fanatic or the one that watches them from behind your hands, a true horror movie tends to have certain criteria that get the audience’s heart beating.

Yet VALLEY wants to give you a perspective on horror movies that would truly curdle your blood: a halloween movie at our very own Penn State University.

An Insidious Introduction

Every scary film seems to start with the same unsuspecting character that seems to be a little too gullible for their own good. In our version of a horror movie, we have your roommate that walks out of the room with a smile on their face and nothing in their hands other than their iPad. Yet, as you wake up groggily, you attempt to tell them, “Wait! It’s going to pour later!” But something supernatural-esque, or rather fatigue, shuts your mouth, silencing any call for help.

A Spooky Situation

You wake up two hours later, only to find that you slept through your three alarms. You jump out of bed, but you seem to forget that your bed is lofted three feet, and you plummet unceremoniously to the ground. You don’t even have time to process your hurt as you grab all of your clothes and change into an outfit that can only be described as horrific because it’s laundry day.

A Creepy Climax

You run to your first class of the day in Osmond, trip on the construction equipment and spill all of your papers on the wet ground. Sighing, you pick up your notes and only just realize that you have a quiz you forgot to study for that day. You groan and make your way to your fate, accepting that you’ll have to do nothing but take that horrifying F.

As you leave your only class for the day, you make your way to the HUB and see the scariest thing of your life: your campus crush holding hands with one of your close friends. You barely escape the situation — your heart is beating fast and your legs are aching from how hard you walked to run away without them noticing you.

To Safety

You almost became bested by the day and by the campus, but you stayed focused and persevered, despite the odds. A typical person would have succumbed and ran off to their home crying and in despair, but you pushed ahead and continued on with your day. Your bravery saved yourself from the most horrifying day, so you hold onto your wits for another scary encounter that you hopefully won’t see for a while.
