The ultimate country concert is coming to Penn State. This Saturday, Lady Antebellum, along with Darius Rucker and Thompson Square, will perform at the Bryce Jordan Center. There’s no doubt that Lady Antebellum will be rockin’ the stage, but what outfit will you be rockin’?
Forget stereotypes: There’s no need to dress like a farm girl to fit in — plaid shirts and pigtail braids are completely outdated. Take country stars turned fashion icons like Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood into consideration when selecting your outfit. Pair a flirty dress with cowboy boots like Taylor, add some edge with accessories like Miranda or pair sweet patterns with loose tops like Carrie. Let’s turn the BJC into a stadium full of southern belles.
In preparation for the concert of a lifetime, we headed downtown to put together some classic country outfits. All of the clothing below can be purchased at Access, and all of the shoes are available at The Shoe Box (both conveniently located on East College Avenue).
This crochet top, printed scarf and detailed leather bag all complement each other to present a colorful outfit that’s appropriate for any country concert. Denim is one classic staple in the country world, but changing up the color of the jeans allows you to showcase your own style.
(Purse: Lucky Brand, $179; Jeans: Lucky Brand, $99; Tank top: Free People, $38; Scarf: Access $26)
Our second outfit allows you to emphasize toned legs with a miniskirt, just like Carrie Underwood. This patterned skirt adds a rustic, old-fashioned feel, while the blue leather purse brings out the blue pattern in the skirt.
(Purse: Access, $48; Blouse: Lucky Brand, $99; Tank top: Free People, $38; Skirt: Access, $32)
Channel Taylor Swift’s feminine style by matching a loose-fitting dress with a belted waist for an outfit that is flattering for most body types. The yellow bag and belt add contrast to the green pattern in the dress, effortlessly completed with the simple green necklace.
(Purse: Access, $48; Belt: Access, $19.50 ; Necklace: Lucky Brand, $39; Dress: Access, $36)
The Shoe Box also has three great pairs of boots that would look amazing with any of the featured outfits.
So when you’re getting ready for the Lady A concert this weekend, use these outfits as inspiration and fashionable alternatives to ragged barn clothes. These looks will surely have heads turning, boys yee-hawing and leave you with one rowdy night to remember.
