Your Instagram Comments Need Some Spice

Photo from Pinterest.com

Instagram is one of the most anxiety-inducing social media apps of today. For many young adults, posting on the platform involves plenty of time spent crafting the perfect caption, the best order of photos and waiting for the optimal time to hit “Post.” While we can’t all help our friends with the behind-the-scenes of every addition to their feed, we always support them later by liking and commenting.

For many, creating Instagram comments is like second nature. It takes milliseconds to write “so pretty”, “gorgeous” or even “mami” and you don’t think twice about what you’ve said afterwards. VALLEY isn’t saying these comments aren’t supportive, but we know you could think of something a little better!

Think about your last Instagram post. Now think about the comments. Even if your post from this morning is fresh in your mind, you probably only think of a variation of the comments mentioned previously. Your friends are genuine in their sentiments, but these remarks blend together so easily that the meaning behind them disappears.

Have you ever gotten a comment that you appreciated so much that you were thinking about it later on, or one that just simply made you laugh? It doesn’t take much creativity to think of something interesting to say and leaving a comment like that could make someone’s day.

VALLEY wants you to start leaving those types of comments on your friends’ posts.

Coming Up with Ideas

Take this photo for instance. Complimenting her would be nice, but a joking comment would just be a little more fun. Instead of the typical type of comment, we decided to comment “influencer ☀️”. Simple, quick and playful! (Feel free to steal this comment for your own use as well!)

Pick out a part of their caption and spin it around, tease them a little, or if you know them well enough you can be extra extra thirsty. Make fun of them, or make a reference to something that happened recently in pop culture.

Why Should I Switch Up my Comments?

Saying something creative and silly makes Instagram just a little more casual, which we can all agree is long overdue. When someone has unique comments on their posts, we are reminded that there is a real person behind the screen.

Leaving an interesting comment can make you and your friends feel a little closer. Commenting silly things on friends that are long distance can make you and them feel not only emotionally connected, but more physically close, too. It’s a reminder that you still know them more than to comment a simple “cuteee” or “slay.”

VALLEY knows that you care about the comments on your posts, too! When you comment eccentric things on others’ posts, they’re more likely to remember and comment back on your posts later.

Your friends know that you think they’re beautiful, but it’s time to spice it up a bit. Leave VALLEY an interesting comment on Instagram @VALLEYmag.
